Day 21 - Rome, Italy

We were supposed to be flying home today, but the flight was overbooked. I really wanted to see my hamster, and mom felt bad for me. So she gave $400 out of the $4500 Air Canada gave us. They also let us stay in a hotel for free and we got free meals. I still want to see my hamster Mocha as soon as possible. i hope he is still somewhat well behaved.

We didn't really do anything today - just stayed in our room. It was pretty boring watching Cartoon Network in Italian, but at least we had the internet! Tomorrow we will be flying back to Toronto.

Day 20 - Rome, Italy

We cisited the famous Trevi fountain and made a wish while tossing a coin over our left shoulders. The way my dad says it, it sounds like " Toast a card over your left soldier" ! Then we went to a famous flight of stairs. We took a few pictures at the top and climbed back down. At our hotel, I think the two people at the reception desk remind me of a mad scientist and his hunchbacked helper who does all the work. Sometimes I think really weird thoughts.

Today is our last day of vacation and we hace to go back tomorrow. But I enjoyed it. My favourite part was the animals. I liked petting horses and feeding pigeons. I even saw a cat sleeping on the seat of a motorcycle!

Day 19 - Rome, Italy

We went to Florence today and went inside the Uffisi Gallery and saw many famous paintings. I could tell Mom enjoyed it very much, Although I wasn't as interensted. But I know that I have to do whatever I can to make her happy. My favourite part of the day was when I bought a necklace from a guy. He used wire and twisted my name so that the necklace has my name on it.

Day 18 - Rome, Italy

We left the cruise today and took the traing back to Rome. Now that the cruise is over, I can't wait to go home! When we got back to Hotel Canada, we rested for and hour and went our for lunch. After that, we went to the Colosseum. It was really cool, and the audioguides we rented were interesting. the highlight of my day was when we visited a fountain and I got to dip my feet in the water. It was really hot, so it felt good. After dinner, we had a special treat - watermelon! It Was so good, I haven't had one in a while. I am so glad the internet is free, because we can use as much as we want now.

Dad is so nice because I got a lot of water on the bathroom floor and he cleaned it up. He didn't even get mad!

Day 17 - Cruise; Rome, Italy

Today we docked in Rome. We had to get up at 5:00 am again. We were so early that Dad and I were the first ones off the ship!

We went to Vatican and cisited the houge museum there, St. Peter's Church, and the Sistine Chapel. At the chapel, we saw the famous painting by Michelangelo on the ceiling. It was very detailed.

When we were done, we all had some more coconut ice cream and I got to feed some pigeons a croissant I saved from breakfast. Mom noticed that one bird was too shy to take a piece from my hand and too slow to grab it on the ground. Poor bird!

After dinner, we watched our waiters Michael and Richard plus the rest of the waiters sing a goodbye song. It was nice, but I forgot it already.

Day 16 - Cruise; Livorno, Italy

Today we went to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I noticed that lots of people were taking pictures that looked like they were holding up the tower. At 11:20, we climbed all the way up 294 steps, but I counted 312. It was tiring, but the view at the top was amazing. Mom was really scared that we would fall off, though. Now I can say I climbed that tower!

Later we had some coconut flacoured ice cream. I should see if they have some in the ice cream shop at home!

Day 15 - Cruise; Sea Day

Today was a really good day because we just stayed on the ship. Right after breakfast in the buffet, we went to the mini golf course and met a really nice Russian boy named Paul. We played mini golf with him. At 11:00 am, I went to another teen activity. We were supposed to be painting rings, but after we were done, we went on a scavenger hunt. It was really hard but fun. Our supervisor gave us a photo album of close up things on the ship and we had to go find them when we were done. We only got 12 while the other group got 14. It was time for lunch when I came back. We went swimming at 3:00 pm and I saw Meena. She gave me her email.

At night we went to a show about the Beatles. I liked it, but my parents thought it was boring. We have to wake up early tomorrow so I hope we sleep well.

Day 14 - Cruise; Katakolon, Greece

Today was relaxing because we only went off the ship for an hour. Mom bought soap and souvenirs; while dad got a snowglobe.

At 11:00 am, we went swimming - all three of us! I like it better that swimming only with dad. It is so nice to do an activity with the whole family! Later, we went to a guest talent show at 10:30 pm. Like the rest of the shows, it was okay. Lots of people were singing. Some were even belly dancing, tap dancing, and two seniors were dancing too! After that, we went to deck 9 to see the big party. We were really tired because it was almost 12:00 am. At the party they were throwing bead necklaces and many people were trying to catch one. Someone it me accidentally and made my glasses a little bit crooked and my eye still hurts.

Day 13 - Cruise; Athens, Greece

Today we woke up at 5:00 am because we wanted to get off the ship as soon as we could. I was kind of cranky in the first few hours.

First we took a train up to the base of the big hill the Parthenon was on. It was a difficult climb up, but at the top we took lots of pictures. The Parthenon was nice, but I wish they weren't restoring it then because we couldn't see it well.

We had McDonald's for lunch and then went shopping. It turns out that Athens has a lot more stray dogs than Turkey. I counted 32!

Before we went on the boat, we bought some seeds and I got to feed some pigeons. They hopped all over me and some settled on my shoulder and on my arm. It was the highlight of my day!

Day 12 - Cruise; Sea Day

In the morning, I slept in because I went to a Midnight buffet with Dad last night and didn't sleep until 12:30. When I woke up, it was almost time for my first activity, so I missed breakfast. It was a scavenger hunt and only two people were there. Later in the afternoon I went to another scavenger hunt. We had to find the stuff on the list. I didn't have a wig or mustache, so I had to use a shower cap filled with towels and my mom had to help me put sunscreen on in the shape of a mustache. I must have looked really weird. Mom seemed to be enjoying it and she took a picture.

At night we went to a show but I didn't really like it. The show was kind of boring. Today I had a good day because it was relaxing.

Day 11 - Cruise; Istanbul, Turkey

Today we arrived in Istanbul. We booked a shore excursion and went to see the Blue Mosque and two other museum. I don't really thingk the churches and palaces are very nice here; the ones in Italy were more decorated.

In the afternoon, we went to the Grand Bazaar. People kept trying to get us to buy things at outrageous prices. For example, my dad collects snowglobes, and he saw one at a store that was 5 dollars. Then we went to another store and saw the same one and it was 25 dollars! I was glad when we left.

Overall, I don't really like Turkey very much. The people seem so desperate and pushy for you to buy things. There are also lots of stray animals; I counted 8 cats and 2 dogs!

Day 10 - Cruise; Ephesus, Turkey

We went to see the ruings of old Ephesus today. There was a theatre where Paul preached, Mary's house, and the place where John was buried. Mom seemed very amazed because her voice had a strange tone. When we got back to the cruise, I was starving because it was 3:00 and I didn't have lunch yet. After dinner, I went to see a comedy show. It wasn't really funny, but I liked some parts of it. Then I went to the disco and met Meena again. I had a good day, and it was very interesting.

Day 9 - Cruise; Marmaris, Turkey

Today the cruise arrived in Turkey at 10:00 am. We were in downtown Marmaris and decided to go shopping. It was so hot. While we were walking, a stray cat came and rubbed against my leg... it was so cute!!

Most of the shops there hace fake brand name items. A lot of then don't even look real! We took a taxi back to the port when we were finished. The taxi driver was kind of cheat because he asked us to pay 8 dollars and share with a couple that only paid 5 dollars. The people in turkey do not obey road rules. They are only suggestions and traffic signs are only decorations.

Later I went to a ping pong tournament but only watched. I met a girl named Meena and she was really nice. Right before bed, we ordered the free room service and got three slices of cheescake and three glasses of milk.

Day 8 - Cruise; Sea Day

Personally, I enjoy sea days much more than excursions because we get to relax and explore the ship. At noon I went to a teen club activity. It was a scavenger hunt and it was pretty fun. Our group won so we all got medals. Then after lunch I went swimming, and I went on the water slide four times. It was really fun! Later, I also went to an art activity and made cool stuff.

At dinner, Sara got lost and her family had to go look for her and they missed the rest of dinner.
Then at 9:00, i went to a teen 70's disco. Not many people really danced, but I met lots of people. There was one really weird guy named Vincenzo. He kept talking to lots of girls and everyone thought that he was really annoying because it seemed like he was flirting with them. He really is so strange.

Day 7 - Cruise; Naples, Italy

Today we had to wake up very early at 5:30 am because we had and excursion to go to. We got off the ship and onto a bus that took us to the city of Pompei. It was destroyed when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. We got to see the ruins. One house we went into was very well preserved - there was even ancient graffiti on the wall! On our excursion we also saw the beautiful town of Amalfi Coast. We were relieved when we got back to the cruise, though, because it was 36 degrees Celsius outside.

At dinner, we met the people sitting at our assigned table. They were all from our excursion, one woman Nikki and her two teenage daughters Josee and Sara. They were very nice. Dad didn't know they were from our excursion, so they asked them if they went on any. We all laughed when I told him they were on the same one!

Day 6 - Cruise

We went on a train to the cruise today. It was an extremely hot day and the train ride was boring. The lady sitting opposite of me had a sandwich, and I was looking at it because there was nothing else to do. She must have noticed because she offered me some! I wasn't going to accept food from a stranger, so I said no.

When we got off, we had to take a shuttle and wait in a long line. It seemed like my dad was a little cranky because of the heat, so we bought him and ice cream bar. Finally, we boarded the cruise called Carnival Freedom. We went to a kid's club orientation at 8:30, then shopped at the small stores on the cruise. I am glad that we are now on the ship!

Day 5 - Rome, Italy

We went on a train today from Venice to Rome. Fortunately, the ride was only 4 hours long and there was air conditioning. When we got off, my first impression of Rome was that lots of people smoke.

When we got to the hotel, I really liked it because it was called Hotel Canada and there was free internet. We rested for a while, then went out to go sightseeing. We went to two churches and saw a famous fountain. Unfortunately, it was under renovation and we could only see it from pictures. Dad let me use his camera, so I took lots of weird pictures.

Tomorrow, we are going to board a cruise and go to many places like Greece and Turkey. I am so excited!

Day 4 - Venice, Italy

In the morning, we went to St. Mark's square. We took a bus ... a waterbus! First we went to see yet another palace, this time the one of Vennice's old king. It was turned into a museum, with many works of art and old weapons. I liked the weapons the best. There was also a prison connected to the palace. We went there next, and it looked very strong, like no one could get out. But someone did! His name was Casanova, and he got out through a hole in the roof. After the prison, we went to a church close to it to see other art because the church was famous for the mosaics all over the church. They were really nice.

After lunch, we went back to the hotel. Then at four, we took a gondola boat and saw more of the city. I really enjoyed it, and saw many fish and famous buildings. We even saw the house of Marco Polo, the famous explorer! I had lots of fun today.

Day 3 - Venice, Italy.

Today, we got on a train at 11:30 in the morning to go to Venice. It was so boring. I was really happy when we got off at the train station, seven hours later. We checked into our hotel which was called Hotel Abbazai. We then went to have dinner and we had Italian food. For desert, mom bought my dad and I gelato (a special type of ice cream) we almost got lost in the city, but we made it back before it got dark. Personally, I like Munich better than Venice because the buildings here are so old. But maybe I will change my mind when we see Venice in the morning.

Day 2 - Munich, Germany

Last night, we slept very well even though my familiy and I had to share a bed. In the morning, we left at 8:30 for a bus tour. The first stop was "mad" King Ludwig II's palace . It was very fancy, with lots of gold decorations. At the next stop, we stayed for a while to shop. Then we moved on to another castle of King Ludwig's. It looked like something out of a fairytale. It even had a fake cave in it!

In the evening, we had Chinese food. My parents thought it was delicious.

Day 1 - Munich, Germany

Yesterday we went on the plane to Munich. Even from the plane, I could see that Munich had many fields and trees. Our flight was only eight hours long! Although it was during the night, I only slept for two hours. Today I was really tired.

When we got off the plane, we had to wait one and a half hours for our room, so we went shopping. My dad bought two snowglobes for his collection.

I saw many dogs at the shopping place. I counted 34 dogs! There were probably that many because there were some animal protection booths in the outdoor mall
